So the Spartans haven't looked much like the team of the last two years so far this season. After an early blowout of a much lower echelon team, they have failed to get the job done three times in a row.
First of all they lost to Central Michigan. I think at the end of the season that loss won't look so bad, because Dan LeFevour will turn out to be one of the five best QBs in the country.
Then they lost to Notre Dame at Notre Dame for the first time since the early 90s. The game came down to the wire with the Spartans throwing a crucial interception with time running out.
Then this weekend they got their butts kicked up and down the field on both sides of the ball for four quarters. Of course the final score was only 38-30, but that was after two garbage TDs at the end of the game by the Spartans. The game wasn't even close the whole way. The Spartans were repleatedly beaten on defense by receivers, and they were destroyed on offense by inept running and horrible passing.
It's looking like it's going to be a LONG season...
