Phew....That Was CLOSE...

So the Red Wings survived tonight to make it to the Western Conference Finals for the third straight season.

The Wings built up two goal leads twice in the game, only to watch Anaheim and the refs tie the game up. Officiating in the game was HORRIBLE. I don't get it...how come in the other sports, "dynasty" type teams get all the calls, but the Wings are the best thing in the NHL and can't seem to buy a call when it matters the most. Think about it, the Patriots can do whatever they want in the NFL. Lebron and Kobe do whatever they want, and so do their teams. The BoSox get most close calls to go their way. But the Wings?? Nothing. Nada. Zero.

Anyways, they prevailed...and why did they prevail?? Because their role players would be first or second line players on any other team in the league. Who scored tonight's goals for the Wings?? Was it their superstars?? Was it Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Zetterberg, Hossa, Datsyuk, or Franzen?? Nope. None of them.

Instead, the Wings got goals tonight from Jiri Hudler, Darren Helm, Mikael Samuelsson, and Dan Cleary. For those of you keeping track, those guys aren't the "stars" on this team...they are the role players, the workers, the guys that are all guts no glory.

And boy, are we lucky that they were on our side tonight.

Go Wings!!!
