The Last Spartan???

So throughout the lore of "Halo" so far, we have basically been taught that Master Chief, Spartan 117, John is the last of his kind. The last member of the Spartan II project that is alive. The war with the Covenant has rendered even the best of the best mostly dead.

At the end of "Halo 3," it is believed on Earth that even Master Chief is dead. However, we know otherwise. We know he's out there floating in space, sending out a signal constantly, waiting for a vessel to pick him up while he's in extended sleep.

So as far as the humans on Earth know, there are no more Spartans...but we know there's one, out there, waiting for the next time that Earth needs him.

However, it would appear that at the end of "Halo Wars" we are going to find out that there are actually another group of Spartans still alive out there in the universe. I was reading about the Spirit of Fire ship, and it turns out that it will use it's FTL drives as a bomb to destroy The Flood, and when they do this they render themselves stranded on the planet, hundreds of lightyears away from UNSC space.

So, it turns out, that maybe there is actually a group of Spartan II soldiers out there still...I'm sure we'll find out in a later game...

By the way, what WAS that thing that Master Chief was floating by when you finished the game on Legendary?? A Marathon colony ship???

You know, I just might get back into this sort of stuff. If you remember my last post, I tend to get frustrated with "mission" or goal oriented games. However, just good ol' shoot em up games are fun and often serve the ever usefull feeling of "blowing off some steam" if not blowing up your opponent. In fact, I have been known to hop online from time to time and go a few rounds with MOH.
