So I don't normally buy into the whole infomercial thing. But a few weeks ago I was watching late night TV and an infomercial came on for this thing called "The Flavorwave Oven Turbo."
Now, it had all the prerequisites of any infomercial:
- "Turbo" in the name of the product
- An audience that nodded and applauded in excitement at anything said
- A charismatic 40-something year old female "cook"
- A payment plan so you could get your product cheaper than the full price (well, at least that's what they want you to think
- Shipping and handling included
- Accessories
Yes, that's right, this infomercial had Mr. T. in it. How can someone say know to "An American Action Hero and Star?" He came busting onto the stage through a door like a madman.
Mr. T. is what made me pay attention to the infomercial, but the thing seemed like it might actually work. Here's the infomercial for you to watch yourself, if you want:
Beware, though, it's almost 6 minutes long.
So anyways, I thought the product sounded good, but I wasn't about to spend $150 on it. So I started looking around. Amazon.com sold it for slightly less expensive. $119 or so. But then I found someone on Ebay selling them. From what I can tell they were selling factory refurbished units...but they were selling them for the low price of $60 including the shipping. I jumped on it.
My Flavorwave Oven Turbo arrived via UPS yesterday and I got it set up today. It looks like a pretty nice appliance and it comes with a cookbook that has some tasty things in it. I think I'm going to give it a try in the next couple of days. I'll post again about the results.

Oh that is soooo great!
It's so simple to use, even Mr T. can cook with it!
Of course you will have to do a video review... ;-)
