So the Spartans made the Sweet 16 today, after a tough win against a very good USC team. The Trojans and the Spartans matched up really well. Both are athletic teams that like to bang around and have great playmakers. In the end the Spartans ended up getting the better of the Trojans to the tune of a 74-69 victory.
This brings the Spartans to yet another Sweet 16. In the last 12 seasons the Spartans have been to the regional semi-finals 8 times. Only Duke can match that. It's a real testament to the constant solid teams that Tom Izzo is churning out in East Lansing.
One last thing, and I think this needs to be mentioned. Travis Walton played his heart out. He had a CAREER high 18 points today. Not bad for the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year. Walton is a senior. I don't think he wants to go home. Why not?? Because every Spartan that has stayed for all 4 years in the last 12 seasons has gone to at least one Final Four. I think Walton wants to see what that is all about.
